block-50
Where: NW DC
When: 2020 - [Ongoing]
Role: Lead Project Designer & Project Mananger
This project is nestled into an existing industrial, post WWII era neighborhood in DC, located near an existing metro and several breweries.
A conceptual project in progress, this 50-unit housing block aims to utilize an industrial palette of weathered corten steel panels and grey-blend brick. Green-wall integration proposed on the alley vertical surface.
The primary mass is shifted to accent a ground floor common, which carves out a “secret garden” adjacent to the alley for building residents.
The accompanying sketches & models are a result of a three-day design charrette, designed to evolve the concept from sketch to rendering. Further neighborhood context will be added in conjunction with façade/plan development.
